六年以前，當她以狄士尼卡通【美女與野獸】的主題曲轟動全球的時候，儘管她已經在兩年之前唱紅過「Where Does My Heart Beat Now
」，除了法語地區之外，其他地區的人們多半還對她十分陌生，甚至連一些號稱專業的DJ們都還不太會唸她的名字。而這些年來，她陸續
唱出了「The Power of Love」、電影【西雅圖夜未眠】插曲「When
I Fall in Love」以及【因為你愛過我】主題曲「Because You Loved Me」，一次又一次的讓舉世歌迷們為之陶醉。
而她為【鐵達尼號】演唱的主題歌「My Heart Will Go On」，更使得她的聲譽達到了巔峰。說來您或許很難相信，她曾經是一句英語也
不會說的。她究竟是個什麼樣的藝人呢？今天就讓我來告訴您她的故事。
當時席琳的歌迷，基本上都仍然集中在加拿大和法國。為了拓展她的領域，她決心進軍英語歌壇，並從1989年開始學習英語。1990年，她
推出首張英語專輯，其中的單曲「Where Does My Heart Beat Now」奪得了全美排行第四名，不過她真正的風靡英語歌曲的市場，卻是因
為她在1992年應邀跟黑人男歌手Peabo Bryson合唱了【美女與野獸】的同名主題曲「Beauty and the Beast」。這首歌不但奪得奧斯卡金
像獎和葛萊美獎，也使得她的第二張英語專輯「Celine Dion」以及其他的單曲如「Love Can Move Mountains」、「Water from the
Moon」以及「If You Asked Me To」等等大為暢銷。在加拿大，這張專輯得到了六白金，更奪得多項相當於葛萊美獎的朱諾獎。
1993年，「The Color of My Love」專輯的出版，使得席琳狄翁在英語市場的人氣更上層樓。這次，她又唱出了另一首電影歌曲，那也就
是跟英國歌手Clive Griffin為【西雅圖夜未眠】共同翻唱的抒情經典「When I Fall in Love」。而專輯中的另外一首翻唱歌曲「The Power
of Love」可說更為成功，獲得了Billboard連續四週的冠軍。這張專輯同時也證明了席琳狄翁不論是唱抒情歌謠曲、或是重節奏的勁歌，
都是一樣在行的。
在大西洋的彼岸，席琳狄翁的聲勢也急速上漲。英國人喜愛的，往往跟美國人不太一樣，他們愛上了專輯中的另外一首抒情歌「Think
Twice」，使得這首單曲和「The Color of My Love」專輯雙雙在英國排行榜首停留了五週之久，這個紀錄是自從Beatles在1965年、他
們的全盛期創下之後，頭一次有人能夠達成的。事實上，「Think Twice」還在榜首上多停留了兩週，成為英國市場上有史以來第四張
由女性歌手奪得的百萬金唱片。她在英國的成就還不只如此，她的法語專輯「D'eux」史無前例的把法語歌曲推上了英國排行榜的尖端。
在「D'eux」專輯中，有一首席琳歌唱生涯中投入感情最深的歌曲，叫做「Vole」，那是為了紀念她因病過世的姪女Karine的作品，後
來被翻譯成英語的「Fly」，發表於她1996年的「Falling Into You」專輯裡。
1996年三月發行的「Falling into You」，是該年度最為暢銷的專輯，曾在十一個國家奪得冠軍，並在第三十九屆的葛萊美獎中獲選為「年
度最佳專輯」以及「最佳流行樂專輯」，到目前為止，至少售出了兩千五百萬張以上。專輯中，她再度為電影獻唱，勞勃瑞福主演的【因
為你愛過我】主題歌「Because You Loved Me」蟬聯全美冠軍六週，而另外一首「To Love You More」更在曰本奪得了長達十八週的
冠軍。
1997年底，隨著【鐵達尼號】感人肺腑的主題曲「My Heart Will Go On」，席琳狄翁的聲望更是邁向了另一個巔峰。同時發行的專輯「
Let's Talk About Love」，還包括了Barbra Streisand和Luciano Pavarotti兩位巨星的友情對唱。
席琳狄翁對史翠珊這位「歌壇大姊大」早已仰慕多年，而史翠珊對這位後起之秀嘹亮的歌喉，也早已透過大衛佛斯特的推薦而大為欣賞，不過真正促成兩人合作的原因，據說還是因為席琳狄翁在1997年奧斯卡頒獎晚會中拔刀相助、代替原先排定而臨時無法上場的歌手娜妲莉高（Natalie Cole）演唱了史翠珊電影「越愛越美麗」獲得提名的主題曲「I Finally Found Someone」（史翠珊是歌曲的原主唱人以及作者之一），表現優異而讓大鼻歌后感激在心，因此這次特別「欽點」席琳狄翁與她合唱，以「Tell Him」這首歌表現出兩個女性對愛與生命的探討，史翠珊以比較年長睿智的「老大姐」姿態，建議比較年輕的席琳狄翁，如果愛一個人，就要及時讓他知道，不要等到為時已晚才來遺
憾終身。
隨著每一張新專輯的推出，席琳狄翁總是能達成更優秀的表現，十多年如一曰，這是非常難得的，而這也就難怪她會越來越受歌迷們的喜愛了。當年一手捧紅Beatles的超級製作大師喬治馬丁就相信，席琳狄翁是不可能唱出任何不完美的音符的，因此特別邀請她參與自己告別唱片界最後專輯的演出，無比深情的詮釋了Beatles的經典「Here, There and Everywhere」。
