这首歌最早是保罗西蒙是原唱，
取自于美国经典电影《毕业生》中的插曲y12

中世纪时期，Scarborough是来自全欧洲的商人经常聚集的一个海边重镇，古朴而又繁华。沧海桑田，斗转星移，它现在只是英格兰西北部一个默默无闻的小镇。作为歌曲，Scarborough Fair原是一首古老的苏格兰民间谜歌(riddle song)，所谓”riddle song”,是指那些民间流传广泛，但是不知道作者是谁的歌曲。而由于人们的相互传唱，本来的曲调已经改变了很多。在70年代，Paul Simon（保罗·西蒙）与Art Garfunkel(亚特·加芬科尔)二重唱将它翻唱,并收录于电影《毕业生》的原声带中。它的名字叫《Scarborough Fair 》（《斯卡保罗集市》）

后来又有很多人唱过，听过月光女神 Sarah Brightman（莎拉.布莱曼）的演绎。同样的歌曲，完全不同的风格，却又同样地抓住人的心灵。不过喜欢保罗和加芬科尔演唱的还是多一些,许是因为他们更能让我想起少年听歌时的那种情怀。
